2005 Message from the
President
Fellow Alumni,
I appreciate the opportunity you have given me and the other members of your Executive Board to serve and represent our association for 2005. Having served on the Executive Board during the previous two years as First Vice President, I had the opportunity and pleasure to learn much from our extremely capable past President, Allen Smith, Lieutenant (Ret.), North Carolina State Highway Patrol. As Allen begins his retirement life, I know I speak for everyone in our association when I say, Allen, a job well done!
The ideas and recommendations the Executive Board received from the alumni after the 2003 annual conference where implemented for the 2004 conference held once again at the Four Points Sheraton in Myrtle Beach. As a result of these suggestions and the hard work and dedication provided by each board member, the 2004 conference was a complete success. For those of you who were unable to attend, our association extended and invitation to the Southern Police Institute (SPI) Alumni membership to participate with us at our 2004 national conference and their National President and members of the Virginia Chapter of the SPI Alumni Association attended. They have expressed a desire to return again for our 2005 conference. We enjoyed their participation and fellowship and we welcome them to join us at our upcoming conference.
The AOMP membership voted at our annual business meeting to hold our 2005 National Conference at the same site and during the same time of the month of October. The hotel will be under new ownership and will have benefited from a complete renovation of the rooms and conference facilities prior to our conference. The hotel will operate under the new name of, The Crown Reef IV, at 2701 South Ocean Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, S.C. and the conference will be held there from Wednesday October 12, through Saturday October 15, 2005. I encourage everyone to make a special effort to attend our upcoming conference and bring someone from your agency with you.
In closing, I wanted to report that your Executive Board attended the graduation of the 40th session of the AOMP and just recently your First Vice President, Ed Maness and myself attended the opening day Bar-B-Q for the 41st session of the AOMP. On each occasion we spoke about the AOMP Alumni Association and encouraged them to consider attending the 2005 AOMP Conference. I look forward to hearing from anyone in the membership with any recommendations and ideas concerning the future of our association. My e-mail address is: pri52@co.henrico.va.us.
Sincerely,
Jim Price, Lieutenant
Henrico County Police
