Chris
M. Anson is Professor
of English and Director of the Campus Writing and Speaking Program.
Before coming to NC-State, Chris spent fifteen years at the University
of Minnesota, where he directed the Composition Program from 1988-96
and was Morse-Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor. He is the
recipient of numerous awards, including the State of Minnesota's
Higher Education Teaching Excellence Award, which is given to
one faculty member among 3,000 in the University of Minnesota
system. He has published widely in his field, including both scholarship
and pedagogical applications, and has consulted or spoken at dozens
of institutions in 42 states and several foreign countries. His
most recent book, Under Construction: Working at the Intersections
of Composition Theory, Research, and Practice, is an edited
collection of essays that examines new directions in the teaching
and administration of writing in higher education. [more

Michael
P. Carter
is
Associate Professor of English with a specialization in rhetoric
and composition and Associate Director of the Campus Writing and
Speaking Program. With a special interest in writing in the disciplines,
he has worked with faculty from across NC State to identify writing
and speaking outcomes for students in their majors. He is the
principal investigator for two National Science Foundation grants
to create and disseminate online instructional materials for helping
students write more effective lab reports. He was the 2002 recipient
of The Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education.
His scholarship has been published in a variety of journals, including
College English, College Composition and Communication,
and Rhetorica. He is the author of Where Writing
Begins: A Postmodern Reconstruction (2003).[more

Deanna
P. Dannels is
an Assistant Professor of Communication and Assistant Director
of the Campus Writing and Speaking Program. She came to NC State
from the University of Utah, where she was a member of a research
and administrative team incorporating communication across the
curriculum. Her cross-curricular work includes experience with
faculty development, TA training, curricular revision, undergraduate
consulting, and instructional design. At the University of Utah,
she was the recipient of a campus wide research grant for her
cross-curricular work, as well a College of Humanities award for
teaching excellence in the Humanities. At NC State, she was the
recipient of the Richard Felder Award for Outstanding Service
in Support of Teaching and Learning (2002) along with the College
of Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Junior Faculty Award
(2002-2003).
Additionally, she is co-PI on a collaborative NSF grant at NC
State focused on incorporating writing, speaking, and teaming
in Chemical Engineering courses. She has published widely in the
areas of communication across the curriculum, technical and scientific
communication, and oral genres in the disciplines. [more
